Nick’s grandfather started this business around 1950. It was passed down to Nick’s father, and today Nick continues the trade with the same values and a modern approach. When a name stays in a community for generations, you do the work right.
Previously named K&L Air, Nick renamed the company to Paladin Mechanical to better reflect how we work today: customer first service, honest pricing, and technicians not salespeople. New name, same roots.

Their years in the Canadian Armed Forces shaped a culture of integrity, discipline, and honest service.

Nick and Arend met while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. That experience shaped how we work today: show up prepared, communicate clearly, and do the job the right way. It is the same mindset that drives our promise of technicians, not salespeople, and honest pricing without the upsell.
After the military, Nick returned home to Smithville and the Caistor Centre area to take over his family’s HVAC business. Arend joined him to help grow it into Paladin Mechanical, bringing the same discipline and reliability to every home and business we serve across the Niagara region.
Nick grew up around the HVAC trade and now carries on a family business that started with his grandfather in the 1950s and was passed down through his father. After serving 4 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, he returned to Southern Ontario to work in his family’s company and build his skills in the field. With 10+ years in the trade, Nick leads Paladin Mechanical with a simple focus: honest recommendations, quality workmanship, and technicians who put service ahead of sales.
Arend grew up hands-on, helping his father with home building and general maintenance, which shaped his practical approach to problem solving. After serving 6 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, he returned to Southern Ontario and partnered with Nick to build Paladin Mechanical. With 5+ years of maintenance experience and 2+ years in HVAC, Arend brings a disciplined, detail-focused mindset to every job, keeping customers informed and ensuring the work is done right from start to finish.
